State lawmakers vote to require parental permission for COVID vaccines
Laura Leslie, WRAL — State lawmakers on Thursday gave final approval to a bill requiring written parental permission before minors can be given vaccines authorized under emergency use by the Food and Drug Administration. At present, the only major vaccines it would apply to would be those for coronavirus. House Bill 96 authorizes pharmacists to administer vaccines and other injectable medications. Senate lawmakers added the provision requiring parental permission for the COVID-19 vaccines, citing feedback from parents worried their teens would get vaccinated without their approval.
